The relevance of theory remains a contentious topic in world literary discourse. Having been highlighted by voices such as Bhabha and amplified by many after him, theory remains a fallow area with multiple potentials for African critics, especially from East Africa.

In a series of short anecdotes that end up postulating my views on theory and its literary usefulness, I invite you to join me in doing for our literary tradition what the likes of I.A. Richards did for their own.
